The Louvre is very overwhelming. People will tell you you can't see it all in a day. I don't think you could see it all in two weeks.
We had a game plan, there were just 4 things we wanted to see. My list of 4 things was the Medieval Louvre, the Egyptian artifacts, The Mona Lisa for "T", and Napoleon's Apartments. I hoped that 4 things wasn't too much. It was.
The kids are holding up the inverted pyramid.
The first thing I wanted the kids to see was the Medieval Louvre. Seriously over-rated.
Next I wanted the kids to see the Egyptian areas. We took a wrong turn and ended up in this gallery full of sculptures.
I never did figure out how to maneuver our way through the museum. It was very complicated.
Yep....holding up ole Venus. Very classy. Somehow we stumbled upon all the most "famous" works but seriously the less famous works are much more impressive.
The Egyptian artifacts alone could have filled two regular museums. After a while it was just too much....it overwhelms your senses.
But still...so much to behold....such as this papyrus....it was the length of the room.
Still smiling...but not for long...
There is as much or more artwork in the building itself, ceilings, walls, architecture, than hanging on the walls.
The views outside the windows are exquisite as well.
Look up at the ceiling "T"
Some people come here just for the big three...The Mona Lisa, The Venus de Milo, and The Winged Victory of Samothrace. There are whole tours that will wisk you through the museum just to see those works. These areas of the museum are a madhouse. In other parts of the museum you might have a whole room to yourself.
"T" never made it to see the Mona Lisa. Daddy was very upset because "T" had been the one who wanted to see the original painting...but by the time we got close to her section of the museum he was to pooped to go on. "J" fought the crowds and she was not impressed.
She was however impressed with this. I don't blame her.
OK...everyone was pooped. If we were going to make it to Napoleon's Apartments we were going to need fuel...Time for the food court.
