After “J” and dad went to the Eiffel Tower we all headed over to
Jardin Du Luxembourg. I thought the kids
needed to blow off some steam. It was
threatening to rain but we grabbed our umbrellas and took a chance.
Just some more random gorgeous architecture.
The Jardin du Luxembourg, or
the Luxembourg Gardens, (another Medici creation) is the second largest public park in Paris[1](224,500 m² (22.5 hectares) located in the 6th arrondissement of Paris, France. The park is the garden of the French Senate, which is itself housed in the Luxembourg
We entered through a small gate on the Rue d'Assas and this was our first view of the garden.
Lots of big old beautiful trees
We paid to go into the playground. We had to pay for the adults too. I always hate that.
They know good and well that I am not going to be climbing monkey bars.
I am pretty sure this playground was sponsored by the Paediatric Orthopedic Surgeons of Greater Paris. Needless to say that this and most all the other playgrounds we experienced in Europe would not meet US safety standards...the kids LOVED it!
After some time at the playground we headed over to the pond hoping to sail toy boats...but the toy boat vendor wasn't there. Perhaps it was too cold.
The Senate is behind "J"
Cherubs make even the most common flowers extraordinary.
Do you see the palm trees in giant planters...this central area was so lovely and exotic but the rest of the park was very mediocre and a bit worn out.
There were no toy boats but there were baby ducks.
The rest of the park (that I saw) looked like this. More dusty pea gravel, picnic tables, tennis courts. It was not too exciting in my opinion but I imagine if you live in the city
the Jardin Du Luxembourg must seem like an oasis.
