4th Fun

Every 4th of July we dodge thunderstorms. It is summer in the south and evening thunderstorms are pretty normal. This year we didn't dodge.

We managed to stay dry during the first wave of rain, by having dinner.

"J" shows off her patriotic manicure.

The rain stopped just in time for ice-cream.

Ice-cream makes everyone happy.

"J" shows off her headgear.

When the storms came we headed for the car, where we spent the next two hours in (too) close proximity. You can only build so many blanket tents before there is a fight.

When all else fails get out the glow sticks.

Finally got to see the fireworks at about 10:00 from the front seat of the car in the pouring rain. The good part was the temps were much cooler than the usual 95. There's always next year.

Dream Come True

I always loved animals. I wanted to be a veterinarian. But as happens, life went a different way for me. Caring for animals was been replaced by caring for small humans. So I was completely surprised to fall in love with a tiny kitten. Gosh I love this kitten. She is so totally sweet and small and she doesn't smell bad (dogs take notice). Caring for her has been a joy. But the real reason for this post is that this tiny kitten has been a dream come true for "J". "J" is more of an animal lover that I ever was. She adores this kitten, and it's quite possible this kitten likes her too. Here are a few photos of true love.

"J" and Dixie BFFs

Even Gabby loves Dixie

This was last night. At first I thought maybe Dixie was trapped, nope she was blissed out in "J's" arms.

Most nights you'll find Dixie sleeping on "J's" pillow. It's her cat, "T" got a laptop.

Summer Fun

It's been a crazy summer. After the beach we had three weeks of different summer camps. Just now things are slowing down and I'm hoping for a few quiet weeks before school starts. Although I saw school supplies out at Target the other day. Geesh people, it's not even mid July.

So here are a few highlights from our adventures so far this summer.

"J" feeds a parakeet and captures the moment on her iPod at the same time.

Look at me mom.

Fun at the pool

Gymnastics for "J"

Trip on the public train system to pick Dad up at the airport. Surprise daddy! You get to take public transit.

Monkeying around after "J's" theatre camp performance of The Jungle Book

"T" loves Molly

We love the Splash Park

Any idea how hard it was to get this shirt clean...."J" playing in the mud at the creek.

Our homeschool group meets at the park/creek every week. A few weeks ago a photographer from the local paper got this shot.

Mini Golf on a 95 degree day. Good Times.

On a completely unrelated note....who schedules an outdoor birthday party on a 95 degree day? This kids don't mind it however, look at those smiles.

Taking Molly to the creek.

"um guys, the playground is way more fun"

"J's" favorite place in the whole world, the creek.

Daisy Scouts

"J's" Daisy Scout troup had a mock camping trip. The best part was getting to come home and sleep in our own beds.

Climbing a tree.

Ewww it's smoky.

The best tents are ones you play in, not ones you sleep in.

Yum, hotdog minus the hotdog.
