Château de Grünstein

We enjoyed a wonderful albeit short stay at Château de Grünstein in Stotzheim, France.  This Chateau is about 450 years old and was built on the site of a castle.  The moat still runs around the building.  The new owners have updated the home managing to blend the perfect amount of old and new.  If you are ever in the Alsace region of France it is worth the drive to stay here.  We also enjoyed a delicious breakfast that included homemade breads, brioche, jams, along with locally produced meats and cheeses.

It wasn't sunny or dry during our stay...but in this photo (from the website) you can see the moat.

Oh look at those gorgeous floors....stunning (and a bit creaky).

At Chateau Du Grunstein you don't get a room, you get a suite. We had two bedrooms, a living area and a bathroom.  The bathroom had this huge jacuzzi tub.  The kids loved it.

Looking out the window from our room.

Petit dejeuner is served.

This family crest and "knight" are the older than the house.
