Party Time

From sheep shearing to a birthday party. We had a busy day.

Holding chicks at the birthday party.

All dressed up.

A gorgeous day and a lovely setting.

And more chick holding.

Sheep Shearing

We had a great morning at a local sheep shearing festival.  Much to my surprise there were multiple sheep shearing festivals in our area occurring on this same weekend.  I didn’t even know there were many sheep around here, but apparently there are and they needed shearing.  We enjoyed a petting zoo, all sorts of turn of the century folk art demonstrations, and of course sheep shearing.
This guy was awesome

very patient with the kids

A sicilian donkey

making a pinch pot

The very reluctant sheep looked miserable the whole time...
but I am sure he felt much better after the whole ordeal was over.
This guy has been shearing sheep for alost 40 years (since he was 12)

My daughter took these shearing photos...I was too far back to really see.

Whew...so much cooler now

He got it all in one piece.

Washing some wool

Carding the wool

Petting the furriest cow I have ever seen.

This kid loves animals.

Alpaca time

Even dad enjoyed the petting zoo.

Basket Weaving

Trying out a handmade chair

Fits pretty well

This sweet man was caning chairs

He let the kids have a try.

They thought it was awesome.

Blacksmith demonstration

Easter

Easter: not our finest day. “T” was pretty grumpy which made mommy pretty grumpy. There may have been lectures about “being grateful”…I can’t really remember, it’s sort of a blur. But despite all the grumpiness we still managed to have a few good times.

Apparently the sun was in their eyes

I think this "look" says it all

At least the azeleas were pretty

We managed to dye eggs

Having an egg hunt with friends

Hiking

Over Spring Break we decided to check out a new hiking trail.  Hiking is always more fun with friends.

Ready For Adventure

Do w you see Trevor holding hands...so sweet.
Not boy-friend girl-friend stuff...just kids being precious kids.

Nothing like a gorgeous canopy of southern forest

We finished our outing by having a picnic at this beautiful park along by river.

Six Flags

We ended the birthday celebrations by going to Six Flags. I hate Six Flags but we go because the kids love it. Also season passes cost about 10 dollars more than general admission for a day. So we have to go a lot. At least it was a beautiful day. “J” wants to ride every roller coaster there and would if we allowed it. As it stands she got to ride the Mind Bender for the first time this year to add to her ever growing list (all Disney coasters, and the Ninja, Wylie Coyote, Mine Ride, and Georgia Cyclone at Six Flags).  "T" tried the Mindbender too but said it scrambled his brain a little.

It was a good day to get wet.

AWESOME!

The guy who takes your money made it look so easy to get to the top.

bumper cars with dad

There is always time for a balloon ride.

The Ninja, "J's" favorite

Both kids love this one

The Mindbender was new for this year.

Happy Birthday "T"

"T" opted to decorate his own cake this year.  Of course he let his sister help.

He is making a character from a game called Minecraft.  The characters are all block shaped,
so this is a good likeness.

"J" makes a red border

Yay! Presents. (who let a cat on the table...some pople)

The finished product

This t-shirt depicts another character from the Minecraft game.
He put it on immediately.

Nerf gun...didn't Nerf used to make balls?

A gift from Germany (not actaully a gift from the country, which would be very thoughtful
-but rather from relatives living in Germany).  "T" said "uh, I don't exaclty read German so I don't know what this is"

Nom Nom Nom...
