Snow Day

Snow is a rarity where we live.  Winters are mild.  Rarely do we get into the teens.  As I get older I realize this is a very good thing.  I understand why so many seniors move to Florida.  I mean who wants to be cold.   But the kids do enjoy the occasional sledding.  We had snow two winters ago.  The next year we bought sleds.  We haven't had snow since.

This year we had to pay for snow.  Yes...pay for snow.  There is a park east of Atlanta that makes snow and has tubing from December-February.  I applaud their tenacity...because there is just as much chance of having a 70 degree day as there is of having a 30 degree day.

This is Stone Mountain.  In case you are interested: Stone Mountain, is a quartz monzonite dome monadnock in Stone Mountain, Georgia, United States. At its summit, the elevation is 1,686 feet (514 m) MSL and 825 feet (251 m) above the surrounding area. Stone Mountain is well-known not only for its geology, but also for the enormous bas-relief on its north face, the largest bas-relief in the world.[1] The carving depicts three figures of the Confederate States of America: Stonewall Jackson, Robert E. Lee, and Jefferson Davis.

The kids enjoyed tubing...even if only half of the slide was made of snow.
The rest was some sort of white felt.

There was a moving sidewalk-no need for pesky exercise.

If you were to take the mile long hike up the mountain...which we did not...
...this is what you would see.

Hey lady...get out of the way.

There was a little kid tubing area too.  Just try to convince my kids they aren't little.

This is the "play" area.  You can have appropriately sanctioned snowball fights, build snowmen etc.

This is a "snow-baby".

My husband described this "snow" as being a hybrid somewhere on the scale between sno-cone ice and hail.  FUN!

If you look closely you will see people shielding themselves from all the fun snow....apparently it hurt to be snowed on.

The kids declared it was the best day ever.

Christmas

Here are a few photos from Christmas.

I love having all the Santa photos displayed.  10 visits to santa and not one tear shed.

As always, Twinkle came to visit.

The Gingerbread Houses were built.

The tree was decorated and stacked with presents.

All the normal stuff one expects from Christmas...

The puppy was loved..and loved...and loved.

And loved some more...

We sliced into Santa's head.

 And yes, we opened presents.

Isn't Molly striking...we love her too...just not as much.

This is gingerbread man banana pudding- not too bad, kinda cute.

Grandma hosted Christmas Eve...we had a lovely evening.
