If you go to the Zoo be aware that it is between two Metro stops. Don't get off at the "zoo" stop, or you will have to walk up the hill to get to the zoo. Which wouldn't be a big deal unless it's hot...unless you have been walking non-stop for a week, and unless the zoo was laid out on a hill.
I knew the Metro stop trick...but I wasn't prepared for the hike around the zoo...if you enter from the main street you will be led down hill for quite a ways and then have no option except to march all the way back up-in the sweltering heat, literally dragging at least one of your children. FUN! Needless to say not many photos were taken.
However the ZOO is excellent. The habitats are very good. They have put a lot of thought into creating this zoo. I didn't want to go because we have a very nice zoo at home, however the National Zoo put ours to shame.
Can you believe other Zoo goers mocked our interest in this squirrel? He was so cute and so close to our heads.
