Monuments Via Potomac

Someone suggested we take a "tour" to see some of the many monuments and memorials in Washington, DC.  It was a great idea and we planned our tour for our last night in DC.  Our tour started on the Potomac.  It was a nice enough ride although honestly you can't see that much form the river.

Come on guys...your parents are paying 50K a year for college...let's make them proud.

This is the infamous Watergate complex.
So extraordinarily ugly...but still a really hot address to have.

This is the Kennedy Center.  Our captain explained that they have free shows every night at 6:00.  If only I had known this, the Green family would have partaken in mystery culture (I guess you don't know in advance what you will get to see).

The Pentagon

This huge set of stairs was designed to be the gateway to the city....but because the Potomac used to be a dismal swamp...the idea never caught on.

 Kennedy Center again

Did I mention we had the boat to ourselves...I felt awful the whole time, knowing the captain was definitely losing money on this charter...but he remained upbeat and informative.

Back at the dock and ready to see Monuments at Night....
