Sheep Shearing

We had a great morning at a local sheep shearing festival.  Much to my surprise there were multiple sheep shearing festivals in our area occurring on this same weekend.  I didn’t even know there were many sheep around here, but apparently there are and they needed shearing.  We enjoyed a petting zoo, all sorts of turn of the century folk art demonstrations, and of course sheep shearing.
This guy was awesome

very patient with the kids

A sicilian donkey

making a pinch pot

The very reluctant sheep looked miserable the whole time...
but I am sure he felt much better after the whole ordeal was over.
This guy has been shearing sheep for alost 40 years (since he was 12)

My daughter took these shearing photos...I was too far back to really see.

Whew...so much cooler now

He got it all in one piece.

Washing some wool

Carding the wool

Petting the furriest cow I have ever seen.

This kid loves animals.

Alpaca time

Even dad enjoyed the petting zoo.

Basket Weaving

Trying out a handmade chair

Fits pretty well

This sweet man was caning chairs

He let the kids have a try.

They thought it was awesome.
