Hazy Summer Days

Summer flew by, mostly because the kids only get about 8 weeks of vacation.  Sure we have the luxury of a longer break-but what's the fun in that if all your friends are back in school and all the fun places are closed.

"J" went to the lake with friends.  She was supposed to go for a week but the flu ruined those plans.  Luckily she has awesome parents who are willing to drive 6 hours to take her to meet her friends at the lake for the last two days of their vacation.

"J" wasn't the only one to get to go to the lake with friends.  I got to go too...the third annual college friends meet up at the lake.

Thank goodness for friends with parents with beach and lake houses.

One day we want to be like our friends...we will call them the "Outdoorsies".  We went to the lake with them one morning for fishing and kayaking.  The boy stayed home...because he isn't even going to pretend he likes the outdoors.  But we spent the morning pretending.
We had fun (I'd still rather sleep in).

The grown-ups got to attend a lot of concerts this summer.  We got to see all the bands that were popular when we were young,,,,Barenaked Ladies, Gin Blossoms, Violent Fems, Bryan Adams (he rocked), Rick Springfield etc.

And of course lots of water park time with friends

4th Of July is Always a favorite

They are the same size now.  I hope the boy starts growing soon.

After beating her brother, "J" went on to battle more fierce competitors
