Commander Zodiac

This was my favorite part of the trip.  We went out in the ocean on a Zodiac boat to see dolphins and visit a disappearing "island."  The boat was really cool, it sits very low so you are a foot from the water and really close to the action. The action being dolphins and a lot of sea birds.

Another Zodiac boat just like the one we were in.

The look on "J's" face when she realized we were not going out on a big slow boring tourist boat like we did a few years ago.

Kids ride up front and hold on tight

The view from here is awesome.

It was the first day of shrimping season in Georgia so we headed out a few miles across the boarder.

Not only do the dolphins trail behind the shrimp boats for the left-overs, but so do hundreds of birds and apparently lots of sharks too.  Sometimes you don't want the water to be crystal clear!

We saw dozens of dolphins and even a few calves (baby dolphins) but dog-on-it they are not that cooperative when it comes to posing for the photographer.

We were almost close enough to reach out and touch them, which is illegal, so we did not.

Do you SEE all those birds?  I thought they were even neater to watch than the dolphins.

Tybee Island lighthouse....we were very close.  It's only about 6 miles across the water from Hilton Head to Tybee.

Now it's time to check out this shoal/sandbar which appears only during low tide.

Can you believe this little guy made it all the way home.

Not too many good shells but plenty of sand dollars.

"T" wanted to bring home this crab leg he found...it took a lot of convincing for him to leave it home.
