Birthdays and Spooky Days

August moved into September and fall was upon us

The kittens turn anything into a toy.

 

Bear Bear and Tipsy became great friends.

We spoiled the kittens with toys and towers

They helped us celebrate 

Happy Birthday!

Dixie is still around.  She like the new house which is mostly dog free. .but she isn't sure about these kittens

We welcomed the cooler days of fall and got ready for Halloween

The mountain house is close to Ft Mountain. The road is so curvy we don't go up there often but we should-its so pretty.

Oh what are the neighbors doing....

Fall was sort of a dud-but we had some pretty color on the hill.

 

The Hunt and KITTENS

I'm glad to say the house sale and new home purchase were done on "K" time.  Fast and furious.  We sold in a day, closed in three weeks.  Looked for about two weeks. Made and offer, closed, and were moving in August 2.   And what better way to celebrate a new home than to get kittens.

Originally In planned to get a condo for the kids to share after "J" graduated.  When we bumped up our time line by a year I realized we needed a house where I could live too.  And we needed parking-lots of parking. We looked at a lot of duds.  We even made an offer and lost.  Then we found it.  The perfect house.  5 minutes from campus, in a lovely established neighborhood,  no sharing bathrooms.  2 driveways, 3 garages, LOTS of parking.  

Besides all of the obvious things there were little details that I loved like the the grass cloth wall paper

A mudroom-I love a good mudroom

So may little details like the wainscoting, the crown molding, the endless built-ins, and the silk curtains.  Now obviously I wouldn't buy a house for the curtains...but everything in the home was done with such high quality and attention to detail-I felt certain this home had been very well cared for.  

The humane society had BOGO kittens. So how could we not get 2.

They were so desperate to get rid of animals that they practically begged us to take them.  Tipsy, was deaf and has wobbly cat syndrome.  Juan is just Juan..a real character from day one.

The kittens immediately made our new house a home.

One day I will go through all these boxes.  But for now I will play with kittens.

Summer "Break"

 It was a whirlwind summer.  We had the three weeks between the offer and the closing as a break...but then maybe not.  There were still some pieces of furniture to be moved.  Last minute cleaning.

There for a few short weeks we were all together again.  I have zero photographic evidence however.

All he dogs would live in the Mountains now.  Bear bear was about 9 weeks old when we first saw the mountain house.  So he has been coming up his whole life.   Bear Bear was so excited to have his buddies come visit.  But are they going to stay he asked.  It took them a bit to get used to it.  But they love mountain life now.

We managed a little pool time.  But we never get enough pool time

My dad was a pool guy.  He would have approved this float.
