Random Winter

So here is a little Green Family randomness.

My son was given an art project about perspective.  He hated it.  He really hates doing anything with set boundaries.  However once I told him that her could add any details he wanted he got excited and made his perspective painting have an Alien Attack theme.  I especially love this car which has been attacked and is on fire.

My son the "Chef" who refuses to eat anything but loves to "cook" wanted to make chocolate.  In other words he wanted me to buy a lot of chocolate for him to melt down, add stuff, and make into shapes.  Either way...they had a lot of fun.

Making "Fuzzies" for a Valentines day party

 "T" facilitating a board game.

Checking out the ducks and geese at the pond after the party

Sometimes kids get you phone and you never even realize it until later when you look through your photos and find this.

Apparently they got some "freakin awesome sunglasses in their Valentines Day boxes.

Girl Scout Cookie time

Sweet little bird on a cold morning

St. Patrick's Day Party at the Park.

Girl Scout Father Daughter Dance...with it's oddly inappropriate "Pajama Party" theme.

We built a tiny wattle fence and planted some flowers and herbs.

This is why we have to pay for Snow

OK, it has been an unusually cold spring here in the South....but this is why I usually love living here. It's a little something I like to call the "70 degree January day".  I'll tell you a little secret...it can be 105 degrees in Minneapolis in the summer but it isn't ever going to be 70 degrees in Minneapolis in January....

After a short hike we had a picnic lunch.  Well the kids had a picnic lunch...I checked my email.

Next was soccer and Frisbee (not pictured here).  You can tel we played hard because 1.  I threw out my knee and  2.  Look at how tired these kids are.

Come on kid...drag yourself to the car...I'm ready to go home.

Snow Day

Snow is a rarity where we live.  Winters are mild.  Rarely do we get into the teens.  As I get older I realize this is a very good thing.  I understand why so many seniors move to Florida.  I mean who wants to be cold.   But the kids do enjoy the occasional sledding.  We had snow two winters ago.  The next year we bought sleds.  We haven't had snow since.

This year we had to pay for snow.  Yes...pay for snow.  There is a park east of Atlanta that makes snow and has tubing from December-February.  I applaud their tenacity...because there is just as much chance of having a 70 degree day as there is of having a 30 degree day.

This is Stone Mountain.  In case you are interested: Stone Mountain, is a quartz monzonite dome monadnock in Stone Mountain, Georgia, United States. At its summit, the elevation is 1,686 feet (514 m) MSL and 825 feet (251 m) above the surrounding area. Stone Mountain is well-known not only for its geology, but also for the enormous bas-relief on its north face, the largest bas-relief in the world.[1] The carving depicts three figures of the Confederate States of America: Stonewall Jackson, Robert E. Lee, and Jefferson Davis.

The kids enjoyed tubing...even if only half of the slide was made of snow.
The rest was some sort of white felt.

There was a moving sidewalk-no need for pesky exercise.

If you were to take the mile long hike up the mountain...which we did not...
...this is what you would see.

Hey lady...get out of the way.

There was a little kid tubing area too.  Just try to convince my kids they aren't little.

This is the "play" area.  You can have appropriately sanctioned snowball fights, build snowmen etc.

This is a "snow-baby".

My husband described this "snow" as being a hybrid somewhere on the scale between sno-cone ice and hail.  FUN!

If you look closely you will see people shielding themselves from all the fun snow....apparently it hurt to be snowed on.

The kids declared it was the best day ever.

Christmas

Here are a few photos from Christmas.

I love having all the Santa photos displayed.  10 visits to santa and not one tear shed.

As always, Twinkle came to visit.

The Gingerbread Houses were built.

The tree was decorated and stacked with presents.

All the normal stuff one expects from Christmas...

The puppy was loved..and loved...and loved.

And loved some more...

We sliced into Santa's head.

 And yes, we opened presents.

Isn't Molly striking...we love her too...just not as much.

This is gingerbread man banana pudding- not too bad, kinda cute.

Grandma hosted Christmas Eve...we had a lovely evening.
